Moldovan banks’ net profit in January-May 2024 amounted to 1 billion 426.8 million lei, down by 29.9% (-608.5 million) from the same period in 2023.

According to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), all 11 banks of the country registered profit for 5 months this year. At the same time, approximately 1 billion 285.1 million lei (about 90.1% of the total net profit) accounted for 4 banks: maib, Moldindconbank, OTP Bank and Victoriabank. The remaining 7 banks earned approximately 141.7 million lei in net profit. At the same time, only one of the banks that made a profit in January-May 2024 saw its volume increase compared to the same period in 2023, and in 10 other banks it decreased. As follows from the data presented by the National Bank, in particular for 5 months in 2024, the largest net profit was received by: maib - 563.85 million lei (in January-May 2023 - 558.17 million lei), Moldindconbank - 353.2 million lei (490.74 million lei), OTP Bank - 233.71 million lei (320.74 million lei) and Victoriabank – 134.35 million lei (364.37 million lei). Next in terms of net profit in January-May 2024 are: ProCreditBank - 39.42 million lei (75.79 million lei), FinComBank - 35.87 million lei (68.31 million lei), BCR Chisinau - 23.32 million lei (47.66 million lei), Eximbank - 18.34 million lei (46.4 million lei), Energbank – 18.22 million lei (34.46 million lei), Comerțbank - 3.97 million lei (16. 69 million lei) and EuroCreditBank - 2.53 million lei (11.94 million lei). // 20.06.2024 - InfoMarket.
