
Placements of funds of Moldovan banks abroad at the end of 2023 amounted to 9 billion 504.2 million lei, up by 5 billion 221.2 million lei (+121.9%), compared to the situation at the end of 2022.
Such data are presented in the Report of the National Bank of Moldova on activity last year. As noted, these foreign placements at the end of 2023 amounted to 6.2% of total assets (3.3% at the end of 2022) and 45.4% of own funds of Moldovan banks (23.3% at the end of 2022). At the same time, the largest increase in the placement of funds of Moldovan banks took place in France - by 1 billion 373 million lei (+163.7%), in Germany - by 1 billion 295.7 million lei (+190.5%), in Austria - by 1 billion 037.7 million lei (+172.4%). At the same time, placements in Russia decreased the most - by 35.3 million lei (-68.3%). As of the end of 2023, the largest share in the total volume of placements of Moldovan banks abroad had: France - 23.3%, Germany - 20.8%, Austria - 17.2%, USA - 13.3%, Italy - 11%.
