The EU has allocated an additional €18.9 million to Moldova under the Reform and Growth Mechanism and called on businesses to invest in our country

As reported by the European Commission, it has allocated an additional €18.9 million to Moldova under the Reform and Growth Mechanism, thus reaffirming the EU's continued support for reforms in the country. At the same time, given Moldova's significant progress in reforms, the EU calls on businesses to invest in our country. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Moldova continues to implement its reform agenda and demonstrates its commitment to the European path. She said that she was very pleased to see continued progress in reforms in key areas, such as energy security in the electricity sector. "Investing in Moldova's economic growth is investing in European integration. After all, a strong Moldova contributes to a stronger Europe. The EU is ready to support Moldova at every stage of its path to the EU," Ursula von der Leyen said. In turn, the European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos noted that the first payment under the Reform and Growth Mechanism for Moldova is a clear sign of our country's commitment to implementing the necessary reforms for economic growth and European integration. "We also encourage investors to invest in Moldova, a country that demonstrates determination and hard work on its path to EU accession," she stressed. The European Commission approved the payment after assessing that Moldova has met four reform indicators related to the semi-annual payment schedule under the Reform and Growth Mechanism. Key achievements include the development of open and competitive electricity and gas markets, as well as measures to ensure energy security. The amount of €18.9 million is in addition to the €270 million already allocated this year as pre-financing. Under the mechanism for 2025-2027, Moldova is to receive up to €1.9 billion in grants and loans. As noted in the European Commission's press release, Moldova continues to make progress in EU accession-related reforms in areas such as justice, the fight against corruption and organised crime. These achievements demonstrate Moldova's commitment to the EU's shared values, including democracy and the rule of law, and ensure that EU funds are effectively invested for the benefit of Moldovan citizens. // 04.09.2025 — InfoMarket
