The Moldovan government has approved minimum cybersecurity requirements for service providers in critical sectors

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution on the procedure for fulfilling cybersecurity obligations by service providers in critical sectors. According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, this decision is an important step to protect citizens and vital infrastructure in the context of growing global risks. A cyberattack can disrupt essential services such as energy, water, transport, telecommunications, banks or healthcare, which will directly affect the daily life of the population. The new requirements set clear standards aligned with European and international norms, strengthening the resilience of public and private providers. The main goal is to ensure a high level of protection of networks and information systems used to provide essential services. "Thanks to these measures, Moldova is becoming safer and ready to take a decisive step into the European digital market. Cybersecurity is one of the fundamental pillars of the modern economy, and the protection of citizens and critical infrastructure remains an absolute priority for the government," said Doina Nistor, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization. The approved rules will be implemented gradually. It provides for 12 months for key suppliers that manage critical services, and 18 months for important suppliers. The resolution adopted by the Cabinet also introduces additional mechanisms: a procedure for notifying cyber incidents, clear criteria for determining the level of impact, and rules for assessing the measures already taken by suppliers. // 03.09.2025 – InfoMarket.
