State company Energocom and Romania's Hidroelectrica signed a contract Thursday for the supply of 100 MW of electricity to Moldova.

Romanian Energy Minister Virgil Popescu announced this, noting that Romanian electricity supplies to Moldova will begin this October 14. "This night begins the supply of electricity to Moldova. We were, are and will be with the citizens of Moldova," Virgil Popescu wrote on his social network page. He also recalled that the emergency ordinance adopted by the Romanian Government stipulates that in exceptional situations, caused by the consequences of the war in Ukraine, in order to secure electric power supply in Moldova, electric power producers are obliged to conclude bilateral contracts within available quantities, first of all with traders/suppliers of electric power, appointed by the Moldovan Government at a special price, specified in the ordinance of the Romanian Cabinet of Ministers. Electricity sold under these conditions should cover exclusively the needs of final consumers in Moldova. Andrei Spinu, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development said earlier that Moldova will start buying electric energy from Romania on October 14 at a price of 450 Romanian lei per MWh (about 90 euros/MWh). / 13.10.2022 – InfoMarket
