Since October 11, Moldova is receiving all the electricity it needs from the Moldovan HPP located in the Transnistrian region.

Andrei Spinu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, said that this was due to the fact that the day before Ukraine stopped exporting electricity to Moldova and the EU after an attack by Russian cruise missiles struck the energy infrastructure of that country. Before that, Moldova used to buy 30% of electricity from Ukraine. Andrei Spinu specified that since 03:00 a.m. on October 11, Moldova has been receiving all the electric power from the Moldovan HPP. It became possible due to the fact that Moldovagaz has provided additional 0.9 million cubic meters of natural gas to the Moldovan HPP to produce the electric power necessary for 24 hours. "Now our priority is to provide the country with electric power for the nearest period at the lowest possible price in this difficult situation. Yesterday we held talks with Ukraine, Romania, and the European Union to find together a good solution for the people of Moldova. I will continue to inform citizens and media about our actions", the Deputy Prime Minister wrote on his social network page. Let us remind that the Moldovan HPP, located in the Transnistrian region, is owned by the Russian company Inter RAO. // 11.10.2022 - InfoMarket
