
Annual inflation in Moldova has decreased, particularly in September 2022; inflation in the last 12 months was 33.97% against 34.29% in August.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported this, noting that monthly inflation in September was 1.43%, while in January-September 2022 - 24.69%. At the same time, in September last year, monthly inflation was 1.68%, annual inflation (for the last 12 months) - 6.68%, and in January-September 2021, inflation was recorded at 0.04%. According to NBS, consumer prices in September 2022, compared to August 2022, increased by an average of 1.43%, against a background of rising food prices by 1.74%, non-food prices by 0.86%, as well as an increase in tariffs for services provided to the population by 1.84%. According to official statistics, in particular, in September 2022, compared to the previous month, a more pronounced increase in prices was observed for the following food products: fruit - by 9.2%, vegetables - by 4.6%, sugar - by 4.4%. At the same time, in the reporting period prices for chicken eggs decreased - by 2.4%. As for non-food products, in September 2022, compared to the previous month, the prices of shoes and clothing have increased more significantly - by 2.3% and 2%, respectively. At the same time, in the same period prices for fuel decreased - by 3.3%, including gasoline - by 6.3%. For services provided to the population in September 2022, compared to August 2022, prices/tariffs increased on average by 1.84%, with a more pronounced increase in tariffs for housing and communal services - by 2.8% (including gas supply services - by 7.2%), which caused the increase in average monthly consumer prices by more than 0.24%. According to NBS, in January-September 2022 inflation amounted to 24.69%, with prices for food products growing by 24.98%, for non-food products by 17.57%, and tariffs for services provided to the population by 34.97%. The annual inflation (for the last 12 months) in September made 33.97%.
