Stores will zone food products with the addition of plant-derived substitutes.

This innovation is contained in the draft of the new Sanitary Regulations for trade units of food trade, which is part of the project developed by the Ministry of Economy on the approval of regulations and rules for domestic trade. The document sets out requirements for the placement, design and equipment of trade units, for lighting, ventilation, for technological equipment, fixtures and utensils, for the sale of food products, for non-stationary and / or temporary units, including vending machines, for the prevention of cross-contamination and other requirements. The new edition of the sanitary regulations describes in more detail the requirements for the sale of products. Zoning and designation of places of sale of food products of animal origin with the addition of substitutes of vegetable origin, vegetable fats and vegetable proteins are provided. The area for the sale of such goods should be marked with the inscription "Food products with the addition of substitutes of plant origin." As before, the ban on portioning of confectionery and bread in trade units remains. At the same time, it is clarified that confectionery products can be produced and put up for sale only after prior division into portions in production sections, subject to appropriate technological conditions, and bread and small bakery products can only be sold packaged and labeled in accordance with the Consumer Food Information Act. A new rule is being introduced for the sale and storage of certain fruits, berries and vegetables, taking into account their compatibility. So, apples, pears, bananas, peaches, plums, melons, avocados, tomatoes and other products that produce ethylene should not be sold and stored together with products such as cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, pumpkin. Root vegetables should be sold separately from other fresh fruits and vegetables. It is forbidden to sell processed vegetables, fruits and berries (salted, pickled, etc.) that are not hermetically packed, allowing self-service by the buyer. Such products will be allowed to be sold only in specialized departments served by an employee of the trade unit. It is also proposed to prohibit the cutting, portioning and packaging of food of animal origin in commercial premises up to 24 square meters. It is also prohibited to store unprocessed and prepared foods for consumption together. The document fixes the conditions for the sale of meat, fish, seafood, eggs, vegetables and other products in order to exclude secondary or cross-contamination. The new sanitary regulations, as well as other documents regulating the rules of internal trade, are to be approved by the government. // 11.10.2022 — InfoMarket
