With the support of the European Union Delegation, the NBM has released three informational videos on the advantages of joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA)
In particular, they detail the benefits of Moldova joining this infrastructure, which unites 41 European countries and provides citizens and companies with the opportunity to make cross-border payments quickly and efficiently, eliminating administrative barriers and reducing the cost of transfers. According to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), the materials present everyday situations that explain in accessible language how the experience of money transfers for Moldovan citizens, the diaspora, and entrepreneurs has changed in connection with Moldova's integration into the European financial system, as a result of which the country became an active part of the Single Euro Payments Area on October 6. As emphasized by National Bank Governor Anca Dragu, integration into SEPA represents a fundamental transformation of Moldova's interaction with the European economy. Transfers are becoming faster, safer, and more affordable, and families receiving money from the diaspora will pay significantly lower fees. “For businesses, SEPA provides access to European payment standards: Moldovan companies do business on the same terms as EU companies, lower costs increase competitiveness, and savings remain in the country for investment and development. Moldova is now as close financially as any EU country,” the NBM head emphasized. The video materials also highlight the fact that Moldova's accession to SEPA brings immediate and tangible benefits in conditions of complete transparency: every transaction in euros is carried out without hidden fees, in accordance with European standards. “Wherever you are in Europe, send money to Moldova in the same way as if you were making a domestic payment within the European Union,” the NBM notes. // 14.11.2025 – InfoMarket.
