Moldova has joined a new EU project to strengthen its intellectual property protection system
According to the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Moldova has joined the “EU4IP – Western Balkans” (EU4IP-WB) project, launched by the EU to strengthen intellectual property systems and support the European integration process of participating countries. The initiative is being implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the European Commission in partnership with the relevant authorities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Moldova. The official launch of the project took place this week in Alicante, Spain. The project aims to harmonize national intellectual property legislation with European standards, strengthen institutional capacity, enforce intellectual property rights, and raise awareness of their importance among small and medium-sized enterprises and young people. AGEPI noted that the initiative is being implemented during a critical period for Moldova as it negotiates EU accession and will help strengthen the predictability of the regulatory environment, protect investments, and accelerate the country’s integration into the single European market. The EU4IP-WB project will complement the existing EU4IP program, which focuses on strengthening intellectual property systems in Armenia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The new initiative aims to modernize services, digitize processes, streamline procedures, and develop intellectual property protection mechanisms for businesses, innovators, and creators. The implementation of the three-year project is expected to stimulate innovation, increase investment, facilitate trade, and deepen economic integration with the EU market. // 22.05.2026 – InfoMarket.
