The turnover of Moldova Innovation Technology Park residents in 2025 is projected to reach €1 billion, a record high for Moldova
Marina Bzovîi, Administrator of Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP) announced this during the SUM IT UP 9 event, which brought together park residents, government officials, development partners, and representatives of the technology ecosystem to summarize the results of eight years of MITP's operation, the results of accelerated evolution that exceeded initial expectations and established IT as one of the key drivers of the national economy. As noted, after nearly a decade of accelerated development, MITP has reached a point of equilibrium, confirming the maturity of an industry that has become crucial to the national economy. Eight years after its launch, MITP has become the largest technology community in Moldova. Currently, the park is home to more than 2,600 companies, which is almost eight times more than in its early years. These companies employ more than 25,700 specialists, which is approximately 3% of the country's workforce. Investments come from 43 countries, with a significant presence from Romania, Ukraine, the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. “We are pleased with the continuous development of the IT sector and forecast that in 2025, the turnover of MITP residents will reach €1 billion—a record figure for Moldova, which is also reflected in the growing contribution to GDP. After eight years of continuous growth, we want the industry to maintain its momentum, generate new innovations, and bring more and more products developed in Moldova to local and international markets,” said Marina Bzovîi. As noted, MITP is not just a public policy tool, but a strategic commitment by the state to innovation, digitalization, and global competitiveness. In just eight years, this model has attracted international investment, created a stable foundation for the development of technology companies, and opened up opportunities for thousands of specialists, making a decisive contribution to positioning IT as an engine of economic growth. “We are celebrating eight years of excellence and innovation at Moldova Innovation Technology Park, a park that has turned IT into a strategic pillar of our economy. The rapid growth of companies and specialists, international investment, and significant contribution to GDP confirm that the technology sector is a key driver of Moldova's sustainable development. At the same time, there is a trend towards Moldovans living abroad returning to the IT sector, where we offer opportunities and a favorable environment for innovation and professional development,” emphasized Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugen Osmochescu. As noted, after eight years of rapid development, the impact of the IT sector, supported by Moldova Innovation Technology Park, is clearly reflected in Moldova's key macroeconomic indicators. The contribution of IT to GDP has increased 3.5 times in eight years: from 1.5% in 2016 to more than 5% in 2024. IT makes the largest contribution to service exports, which amounted to €600 million in 2024, accounting for 24% of total service exports. Tax payments by MITP residents will reach 7.5 billion lei over an eight-year period. In 2024, taxes paid by companies in the park covered 16% of government spending on higher education and 90% of government spending on healthcare. The authorities acknowledge that the development of the IT sector has significantly exceeded the targets set in 2018, both in terms of the number of companies and in terms of economic and social impact. “In eight years, reality has exceeded all expectations and forecasts made in 2018. At that time, we talked about a target of 300 companies, and today we have more than 2,600 residents and more than 25,000 employees. This is impressive growth, which we want not only to maintain but also to accelerate, strengthening the role of the IT sector as a strategic pillar of the national economy," said Michelle Iliev, State Secretary for Economic Development and Digitalization. As noted, in 2025, MITP focused on strengthening the resident community through a number of special initiatives: SUM IT UP, Resident2Resident, online Q&A sessions, the Rethink IT podcast, the Moldova Digital Summit, and the MITP Awards. Internationally, MITP and its resident companies were represented at leading events in Romania, the US, France, Sweden, Dubai, Finland, Portugal, Germany, and the Netherlands. At the same time, promotional activities attracted the attention of international media, including visits by foreign journalists to Moldova, and more than 50 MITP residents took part in local promotional video campaigns. In 2026, Moldova Innovation Technology Park will seek to strengthen its role as a strategic player in the development of the digital economy, going beyond simply offering an attractive tax regime. MITP will continue to establish itself as a mature ecosystem, a catalyst for innovation, and an important pillar in positioning Moldova as an emerging technology hub in the region. Among the main goals for the coming year are the launch of the Digital Innovation and Technology Start-up Support Fund, a tool designed to stimulate the development of value-added technology products, and the implementation of the FAIMA project - the Moldova AI Factory Antenna. FAIMA is one of 13 structures selected by EuroHPC at the European level, and this ambitious project will be coordinated by MITP, marking an important new step in Moldova's integration into the European artificial intelligence ecosystem. Moldova Innovation Technology Park, established in 2018, is the first e-Park in Europe offering a single 7% tax regime and a stable framework guaranteed by the state until 2035, with a term until 2037. // 24.12.2025 — InfoMarket.
