Moldova's economic activity in Q3 2024 maintains steady growth – the NBM

This is stated in the National Bank's materials regarding the latest decision of the NBM Executive Committee to keep the base rate applied to the main short-term monetary policy operations at the level of 3.6% per annum. As noted, the data published by the National Bureau of Statistics for the first 2 months of Q3 2024 outline the conditions for continued steady growth of economic activity in this quarter. Thus, in July-August 2024, the annual rate of exports decreased by 10.9% amid a decline in agricultural production, but the annual rate of imports increased by 13.9%. The NBM notes that the growth of imports can be explained by the revival of consumption in Moldova. In particular, retail and wholesale trade grew in annual terms by an average of 13.9% and 6.7%, respectively. // 06.11.2024 - InfoMarket
