The administration of the Ungheni-Business FEZ reported that both companies were selected following a competition among residents. They will be engaged in external and internal commercial activities: wholesale trade of liquefied gas and petroleum products. The FEZ administration has not yet provided details about investments, plans and jobs. Rompetrol Moldova is part of the group KMG International, a group owned by the national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan, KazMunayGas. The company is engaged in oil refining, petrochemical, distribution activities in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Georgia, and also provides well drilling services in the field of exploration and production. The company has been operating on the Moldovan market for more than 20 years, managing a network of gas stations, which has created more than 1 thousand jobs to date. In 2022, sales revenues of Rompetrol Moldova amounted to 10.03 million (an increase of 2.1 times compared to the previous year), and profit - 22.2 million lei (an increase of 2.3 times). The second resident, Exoil Company, was registered in February of this year in Cricova. The founder of the company is Jekums Andrejs. It is worth noting that in 2023, investments in the Ungheni FEZ amounted to $116.9 million. There were 59 residents registered there, employing 3,174 workers. Sales of resident companies amounted to 3.2 billion lei, and the amount of taxes paid exceeded 360.4 million lei.
