The Chisinau Municipal Council approved in the second reading the municipal budget for 2023.

According to the approved draft, Chisinau municipal budget revenues will amount to 6 billion 812.37 million lei, a 25.2% increase compared to the revenues approved for 2022. Of the total amount of planned revenues, about 55.6% will consist of transfers from the state budget - 3 billion 777.6 million lei, which is 26.6 million lei less than in 2022. Next follow revenues from taxes and fees - 2 billion 015 million lei (29.6% share). Own revenues of the municipal budget with a share of 12.1% of the total amount - 825 million lei, which is 4.7% more compared to the approved amount for 2022. Revenues from the provision of paid services are also expected at the level of 91 million 561.2 thousand lei; from payments for the rent of municipal facilities - 16 million 851.8 thousand lei; from taxes on the purchase of foreign currency by individuals in foreign exchange offices - 15 million lei; from voluntary donations for budgetary institutions - 0.320 million lei; grants - 70 million 598.7 thousand lei (share 1%). Municipal budget expenditures for 2023 are planned in the amount of 7 billion 359 million lei, which is 11.4% more than the approved expenditures for 2022. Almost 67% (4 billion 932 million 584.8 thousand lei) of expenditures will be directed to education, culture, health and social protection, which is 28.7% more than in 2022. Chisinau municipal budget deficit in 2023, according to the draft will exceed 547 million lei.
