Currently, Moldova is negotiating the financing of new energy efficiency projects worth more than 100 million euros.

Energy expert Ion Muntean noted this in a publication by IDIS Viitorul. He drew attention to the fact that the rise in prices for basic energy resources leads to the search for investments in energy efficiency projects in both the public and private sectors. And negotiations on new agreements are the first sign of this. According to the expert, negotiations are underway with the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the EU and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) Fund, etc. The priority in 2022 is to increase renewable energy production capacity, granting the status of "eligible producers" to future renewable energy producers and approving tariffs for electricity generation. According to expert estimates, in 2022-2025, the share of renewable electricity in total consumption in Moldova will increase to 20%. Work will also begin to speed up the construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau ground power transmission line, which will connect the electricity system of Moldova with the Romanian and, accordingly, the European one. This project, according to the expert, is of paramount importance for strengthening the electricity security of the country, given the experience of commissioning the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline. Ion Muntean also noted that in order to avoid delaying the implementation of the project, it is extremely important to speed up the process of alienation of land plots on which work on the construction of power lines should be carried out. The expert is convinced that the current energy crisis will lead to many changes in the structure of energy consumption, which prompts the search for new solutions to ensure the country's energy security, including in the context of natural gas imports. // 25.01.2022 - InfoMarket.
