
Moldova: the World Bank starts assessing the effectiveness of public finance management, applying a new methodology for assessing public spending and financial accountability (PEFA).
The Ministry of Finance announced this, noting that the PEFA Assessment Mission in Moldova started on 13 July. The assessment will cover 2018-2020 and will be conducted by the World Bank team within the framework of funding provided by the European Union and in partnership with the Ministry of Finance of Moldova. The PEFA program provides a framework for assessing the strengths and weaknesses of public finance management and reporting, using quantitative indicators to measure performance. The industry department clarified that from July 8 to July 12, a number of Ministry of Finance officials took part in a training seminar on a new methodology for assessing public expenditure and financial accountability (PEFA) 2016, organized by the World Bank. The issues raised during the training event related to the main elements of PEFA 2016: results, components, indicators and parameters, goals and objectives of all participants in the assessment process, analysis of the effectiveness of public finance management, management of the PEFA assessment process and the use of PEFA to improve public finance management. The seminar was held online and brought together representatives of the Parliament, the Ministry of Finance, the Accounts Chamber, the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the Public Procurement Agency, the National Health Insurance Company, the State Tax Service, the Customs Service, the Financial Inspection, etc. // 14.07.2021 – InfoMarket
