Competitors in the July 11 parliamentary elections will be able to take advantage of interest-free loans for campaigning.
The corresponding draft of the Regulation on the procedure for providing interest-free loans to electoral candidates in order to conduct the election campaign for the snap parliamentary elections on July 11 was elaborated by the Ministry of Finance. According to the project, political parties, other social and political organizations and electoral blocs will be able to receive interest-free loans up to 50 thousand lei, and independent candidates - up to 10 thousand lei. The funds will be provided on the basis of a loan agreement concluded by the candidates with the Ministry of Finance. The document also establishes the rules for refunding money. The loans received will be repaid by the state in whole or in part, depending on the total number of valid votes cast for the competitor in the snap parliamentary elections. Election candidates who receive less than 3% of valid votes, including unelected independent candidates, are required to return the credits received within 2 months after the end of the voting. The rest of the electoral contestants return loans within 4 months. A competitor who has withdrawn his candidacy is obliged to return the loan allocated to him from the state budget for the conduct of the election campaign within 2 months after the withdrawal of his candidacy. // 19.05.2021 – InfoMarket
