Moldova’s economy is expected to recover next year after the 2020 downturn and the 2021 GDP growth is projected at 4.7%.
Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Anatol Usatii announced this at a press conference, noting that the GDP growth forecast had been agreed with experts of the International Monetary Fund. He recalled that over 9 months of this year the decline in the gross domestic product of Moldova amounted to 8.2%, and this dynamics of GDP was the result of the impact of the pandemic crisis on the national economy’s sectors. Among the most affected sectors, Anatol Usatii mentioned the HoReCa sector, the sphere of domestic trade, industrial and agricultural production, transport, construction, etc. He stressed that the volume of Moldovan exports decreased this year against the background of main partner countries’ reduced demand for domestic products against the background of the pandemic and economic crisis. Minister of Economy and Infrastructure noted that imports to Moldova also decreased due to thereduced domestic demand for the same reasons. // 31.12.2020 - InfoMarket.
