The Chisinau municipal budget for 2021 was approved with a deficit of about 1.53 billion lei.
The document was approved in two readings by the Chisinau Municipal Council. The total revenues of the Chisinau budget for 2021 are planned at 4.74 billion lei, including 2.6 billion lei - transfers from the state budget. Municipal budget expenditures for 2021 are planned at 6.28 billion lei. A detailed budget document will be published later. Note that the budget in the second reading was approved by 27 municipal councilors from the Socialist Party of RM, Democratic Party and Party of National Unity factions. Representatives of the DA and PAS platform left the Chisinau Municipal Council meeting in protest against the project, while Communist Party RM abstained from voting. In addition, an updated tax system for 2021 was approved. The document will also be published later on the mayoralty website. It is noted that the new tax collections will bring significant income of over 100 million lei. These funds will be used to repair the courtyards of apartment buildings and the houses themselves, to repair sidewalks, stairs, doors, windows, roofs, and elevators.
