Moldovan government has coordinated with the International Finance Corporation a new foreign aid project totaling $3.8 million.

The Ministry of Finance announced this, noting that, in particular, representatives of the Moldovan government held negotiations on a draft Cooperation Agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, in order to implement the project "Moldova Investment Climate Reform, Phase II". The goal of the project is to increase the competitiveness of the private sector and agricultural exports by opening the EU market for livestock products (poultry, eggs, milk and dairy products) and increasing the export potential of the horticultural sector. The project budget is $3.8 million. The IFC will contribute $2.8 million, as well as gratuitous technical assistance. The Moldovan government will co-finance the project, contributing $1 million in payments to third parties for goods and services required for the project. The proposed project is designed for 3 years (2021-2023) and will achieve a number of planned results: a report on the assessment of the infrastructure of the national laboratory in order to gain access to the EU market for eggs, poultry and dairy products from Moldova; a feasibility study for the construction of a plant for the processing of animal by-products in order to create a safe system for the management of diseases and waste in the livestock sector; development of recommendations for adjusting and modernizing the national legal framework in order to transfer the current EU rules to the relevant legislation of Moldova, in particular, with regard to the safety of poultry and dairy products. In addition, a report and recommendations will be prepared on the Action Plan for the Dairy Sector and the Raw Milk Monitoring Program to be created by the authorities to gain access to EU markets; development of the Technical concept of an automated information system for the transmission, reception and recording of warnings about food and feed in accordance with the provisions of PP 59/2017; a mentoring and capacity building program for the horticultural sector with the aim of increasing the export of fresh fruit and honey from Moldova to the EU. // 28.12.2020 - InfoMarket.
