
The internal public debt of Moldova in November 2020 increased by another 491 million lei (+ 1.7%) and reached a new record high - 29 billion 068.1 lei at the end of the month.
The previous record indicator of the domestic public debt of Moldova was registered at the end of October 2020, when it amounted to 28 billion 577.1 million lei. In general, in January-November 2020, the internal public debt of Moldova increased by 5 billion 572.2 million lei (+ 23.7%), amounting to 29 billion 068.1 million lei at the end of November this year against 23 billion 495.9 million lei as of January 1. According to the Ministry of Finance, such a change in the domestic public debt for 11 months in 2020 was mainly due to an increase in the issue of government securities in the primary market by 5 billion 822.72 million lei. In particular, as of the end of November 2020, the debt on state securities issued in the primary market amounted to about 14 billion 393.51 million lei, which is 5 billion 822.72 million lei (67.9%) more than at the end of 2019, and it accounted for 49.5% of the total volume of domestic public debt. At the same time, the debt on bonds issued for the execution by the Ministry of Finance of payment obligations arising from state guarantees dated November 17, 2014 and April 1, 2015, at the end of November 2020 amounted to 12 billion 611.2 million lei, having decreased by 240 million lei (-1.9%), compared to the situation at the end of 2019. It accounted for 43.4% of the total amount of Moldova's domestic public debt at the end of November 2020.The debt on converted government securities at the end of November 2020 amounted to 2 billion 063.39 million lei, which is 10.54 million (0.5%) less than at the end of 2019 (7.1% of the total domestic public debt). According to the Ministry of Finance, in January-November 2020, the weighted average interest rate on government securities sold at auctions amounted to 5.2% (by types of government securities: 91 days - 3.88%, 182 days - 5.14%, 364 days - 5.51%, 2 years - 5.79%, 3 years - 6.00%, 5 years - 6.29%), which is 1 pp less compared to the same period of the previous year.// 11.12.2020 — InfoMarket.
