Moldova plans to receive in 2021 external loans totaling 10 billion 357.5 million lei (equivalent to $569.4 million) to support the budget and implement projects financed from external sources.

This is stated in the materials of the Ministry of Finance to the draft Law on the state budget for 2021, which was adopted by the parliament in the first reading. As noted, at the same time, it is planned to receive external loans totaling 5 billion 918.5 million lei (equivalent to $325.4 million) for budget support, and for the implementation of projects financed from external sources - 4 billion 439 million lei (equivalent to $244 million). It is assumed that in 2021 the main creditor of the Moldovan government will be the International Monetary Fund, which will provide loans totaling 3 billion 346.3 million lei (equivalent to $184 million), which will amount to 32.3% of the total inflow of external government loans. All of these loans will be fully intended to support the budget. It is planned that the second place in terms of the total volume of external state loans granted to Moldova in 2021 will be taken by the World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), which will provide our country as a whole with loans worth 2 billion 757.3 million lei (equivalent to $151.6 million), which will amount to about 26.6% of the total inflow of external government loans. The third place will be taken by the European Investment Bank - 1 billion 215.5 million lei in external state loans (equivalent to $66.8 million), which will amount to 11.7% of the total amount of external government loans. It is followed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with an indicator of 984.4 million lei (equivalent to $54.1 million), which will amount to 9.5% of the total amount of external government loans. // 08.12.2020 - InfoMarket.
