The powers of the special parliamentary commission to investigate the procedure for the alienation of trade unions’ property have been extended until February 1, 2021.
The MPs adopted the decision to extend the term of commission. As it was noted, in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic and the declaration of the state of emergency in Moldova from March 17, 2020, the members of this commission were unable to carry out the planned activities for reasons beyond their control. In this regard, they asked parliament to extend the term of office of the commission that expired in May. It is planned that within the new deadline, the members of the commission will be able to fulfill their mission set by parliament and will ensure that a detailed investigation is carried out in order to draw up a report on the factual and legal circumstances concerning the alienation of union property. After hearing all the parties involved and receiving information from the responsible institutions, the commission will submit a report to parliament. The parliament of Moldova created a special commission of inquiry to investigate the procedure for alienating trade union property on February 13; it included 9 MPs from different parliamentary factions: Lilian Carp (chairman), Anghel Agache, Vitalie Eftodiev, Anatolie Labunet, Vasile Bitca, Veronica Rosca, Stela Macari, Vasile Nastase, and Denis Ulanov. It was planned that the inquiry commission would hear all the parties involved and submit a report to parliament within 90 days. The initiative to create the said commission was made by the MPs from the PAS and Platform DA factions. They noted that after the collapse of the USSR, Moldova inherited an impressive property, estimated at $200 million. This legacy, which came from the united trade union organization, included real estate, tourist centers, sanatoriums, sports centers, campings and holiday camps. Journalistic investigations, which present cases of fraudulent management of property of trade unions of Moldova, through the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova, indicate that their leaders were not concerned with protecting the rights of employees, including property rights. // 27.11.2020 - InfoMarket.
