The previous historical maximum of Moldova's total public debt was 62 billion 233.9 million lei and was registered at the end of September this year. According to the Ministry of Finance of Moldova, in particular, the total public debt of Moldova in January-October 2020 increased by 10 billion 813.9 million lei (+ 20.6%), amounting to 63 billion 308.2 million lei at the end of October this year. The increase in the total public debt over 10 months of 2020 was due to the growth of both internal and external public debt, expressed in MDL. In particular, the internal public debt in January-October 2020 increased by 5 billion 408.9 million lei (+ 23.3%) - from 23 billion 168.2 million lei (at the end of December 2019) to 28 billion 577.1 million lei (at the end of October 2020). At the same time, the external public debt in MDL terms increased over the same period by 5 billion 405 million lei (+ 18.4%) - from 29 billion 326.1 million to 34 billion 731.1 million lei. At the same time, the share of the internal public debt in the total amount of the public debt of Moldova was 45.1%, and the share of the external public debt - 54.9%. In general, the share of total public debt in GDP increased from 25% at the end of 2019 to 31.4% at the end of October 2020. At the same time, GDP in 2019, according to operational data, amounted to 210 billion 098.8 million lei, and by the end of 2020, it is expected to reach 201.4 billion lei. The Ministry of Finance noted that at the end of October 2020, the share of public debt payable within one year amounted to 26% of the total, while the Public Debt Management in the Medium Term (2019-2021) Program provides for parameters of 15-25%. The share of domestic public debt in the total volume of public debt was 45.1% (previously approved parameters: 35-50%), the proportion of external public debt in a certain currency in the total volume of external public debt at the end of October 2020 was 29.9% (approved parameters: 20-40%). The share of public debt with a variable interest rate in the total volume of public debt at the end of October 2020 amounted to 37.6% with the parameters of 25-40%.
