NBM approved remote identification - easier and more secure access of citizens to financial services in Moldova

According to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), in particular, persons wishing to establish relations with licensed banks, non-bank credit institutions, savings and loan associations, as well as life insurance operators are no longer obliged to appear at their offices. This also applies to existing customers, who can already update their data remotely. In particular, the National Bank has approved the Regulation facilitating the use of electronic identification methods, such as video identification, qualified electronic signature and automated verification solutions. The document applies not only to new customers, but also to those who already have contractual relations with these organizations. Thus, users get quick access to financial services, a process that previously required additional time and effort. The Regulation adopted by the NBM provides for the use of innovative digital solutions adapted to the needs of each client, including for people with reduced mobility or other special needs. Remote identification procedures comply with the strictest standards of security, confidentiality and protection of personal data, in accordance with national and international legislation. Customers receive clear information about the terms of the process and how their data will be processed. The Regulation encourages financial organizations to implement modern technologies that simplify processes, reduce costs and improve customers' access to modern and quality services. The National Bank of Moldova said it continues to support the digital transformation of the banking sector, emphasizing efficiency, security and accessibility for all citizens. // 24.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
