
The average interest rate on new term deposits in lei in September 2021 amounted to 3.19%, an increase of 0.06 percentage points compared to the previous month.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, at the same time, compared to September of the previous year, it decreased by 0.61 percentage points. Individuals placed deposits in lei in September 2021 with an average rate of 3.63%, legal entities - with an average rate of 2.42%. Herewith, in comparison with the previous month, the average interest rate on deposits of individuals in September 2021 increased by 0.1 percentage points, and on deposits of legal entities - increased by 0.24 percentage points. Meanwhile, in comparison with September of the previous year, the average interest rate on deposits of individuals in September 2021 decreased by 0.66 percentage points, and for legal entities - decreased by 0.37 percentage points. Deposits in lei for a period of 2 to 5 years were the most attractive in the reporting month, had the largest share (35% of the total) and were attracted at an average rate of 3.82%, while the average rate for individuals was 4.19%, for legal entities - 3.03%. The highest average interest rate on deposits attracted in national currency from individuals was on deposits for a period of more than 5 years, amounting to 4.81% per annum, and for legal entities - on deposits for a period from 1 year to 2 years, amounting to 3.56% per annum.
