
The weighted average interest rate on new loans in lei in Moldova in September 2021 amounted to 6.84% per annum, an increase of 0.06 percentage points compared to the previous month.
At the same time, in comparison with September of the previous year, it decreased by 1.04 percentage points. It should be noted that the historical minimum of the weighted average interest rate on new loans in lei in Moldova is 6.78% per annum, and it was registered in August 2021. As InfoMarket agency was informed in the National Bank of Moldova, in September 2021, loans to individuals were provided at an average rate of 5.29% (-0.15 percentage points, compared to the previous month; -1.82 percentage points in comparison September 2020), legal entities- 8.19% (-0.04 p.p. and -0.2 p.p., respectively), and individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activity - 9.1% (+0.48 p.p. and -0.36 p.p., respectively).The volume of loans in lei granted to individuals in September 2021 increased by 5.2% compared to the previous month, amounting to 1 billion 534.5 million lei. In terms of the purpose of the loans provided, the largest share was made up of consumer loans (63.9%), which were issued at an average rate of 4.38% per annum (-0.19 p.p. compared to the previous month; -2.77 p.p., compared to September 2020). Average interest rate on loans for buying real estate in September this year amounted to 6.62% and decreased by 0.1 percentage points, compared with the previous month, but increased by 0.09 percentage points, compared with September 2020. It should be noted that 98.5% of the total the volume of mortgage loans and 99.8% of consumer loans were issued in lei. Loans in national currency with a maturity of 2 to 5 years were most in demand in the reporting month and were provided at an average interest rate of 6.32% (legal entities - 8.25%, individuals - 4.19%, and individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activity - 9%). Herewith, the highest average interest rate on loans in the national currency for legal entities was on loans with a maturity of up to 1 month, amounting to 9.45% per annum, for individuals - on loans for a period of more than 5 years, amounting to 6.72% per annum, and for individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activity, on loans for up to 1 month, amounting to 12.89% per annum. The lowest average interest rate on loans in lei for individuals was the rate on loans for a term of 1-3 months, which was 3.45% per annum, for legal entities - the rate on loans also for a term of 1-3 months, which was 7.44%, and for individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activities, the rate on loans for a period of more than 5 years, which amounted to 7.81%. // 09.11.2021 — InfoMarket
