The National Bank of Moldova from June 1 is launching a series of events dedicated to its 30th anniversary.
As the NBM Governor Octavian Armasu noted, June 4 is an important date in confirming the independence of Moldova. “The National Bank of Moldova was founded 30 years ago and the basis of the banking system was laid this way. Without this, the initiation of transition to a market economy wasn’t possible. In the period, the banking system was subject to multiple tests and we accumulated knowledge, experience. I’m confident that we will continue on the path of reforms with tenacity and responsibility, building a strong banking system that deserves to be trusted, as we aim,” said Octavian Armasu. According to him, from today, June 1, the National Bank will launch a series of videos “People of the NBM”. Accordingly, within 30 days on the communication platforms of the NBM, the story of an employee will be published, who will share his experience of working in the National Bank's team, as well as moments from his/her personal life. Also on June 1, International Children's Day, the National Bank organizes an online event "În lumea lui Bănuț" (In the World of the Coin) for preschoolers from different parts of the country. During this event dedicated to financial education, children will be introduced to the history of money, elements of protection of national currency banknotes in an accessible form, and a virtual tour of the NBM will be organized for them. At the same time, on June 4, when the 30th anniversary of the NBM foundation will be celebrated, a high-level conference “Post-pandemic economic recovery: realities and prospects” will be organized. The conference will provide an opportunity to exchange views and experiences on the role of central banks and the banking community in supporting the economy in the aftermath of the pandemic crisis. The agenda will include issues related to post-pandemic problems of central banks, consideration of systemic risks, foundations for maintaining financial stability, etc. Thus, the purpose of the conference is to show how the pandemic has changed us and to discuss opportunities for further development accordingly.
