According to the National Bank of Moldova, the share of deposits attracted in MDL amounted to 65.3%, in foreign currency - 34.7%. In particular, the volume of deposits attracted in national currency amounted to 1 billion 501.4 million lei, having decreased by 14.8% compared to the previous month, and also having decreased by 6.5% compared to January 2020. At the same time, the volume of funds attracted in foreign currency, recalculated in MDL, amounted to 797.4 million lei, having increased by 8.4% compared to the previous month, but being 21.8% lower than in January 2020. According to the NBM, in January 2021 attracted deposits were mainly represented by deposits of individuals - 77.4% of the total volume, while 47.7% were deposits in the national currency, and 29.7% - in foreign currency. The most attractive in terms of maturity were deposits for a period of 6 to 12 months (39.7% of the total volume of term deposits).
