
The World Bank has lowered its GDP growth forecast for Moldova in 2025 from 3.9% to 0.9% and in 2026 from 4.5% to 2.4%
At the same time, it forecasts economic growth of 4.4% for Moldova in 2027. This follows from the latest edition of the World Bank's Global Economic Prospects for June 2025. It should be noted that the World Bank's Global Economic Prospects for January 2025 stated that the World Bank had maintained its GDP growth forecast for Moldova in 2025 and 2026 at 3.9% and 4.5%, respectively. According to preliminary data from the National Bureau of Statistics, Moldova's GDP in 2024 amounted to 323 billion 817 million lei, up 0.1% compared to 2023. Earlier it was reported that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development had lowered its GDP growth forecast for Moldova in 2025 from 2% to 1.8%, but maintained its forecast for 2026 at 3.8%. The IMF has lowered its GDP growth forecast for Moldova in 2025 from 3.7% to 0.6%. At the same time, the Fund's experts forecast Moldova's economic growth at 2.5% for 2026 and 5% by the end of the next five years (2030).
