Maximum amount of compensation for energy resources for households will increase to 1400 lei in January-March 2025

Maximum amount of compensation for energy resources for households will increase to 1400 lei in January-March 2025

This is stipulated by the government-approved amendments to the regulation on the provision of financial compensations for the energy consumed by households. The amendments were needed to adjust the financial assistance to the new electricity tariffs, in order to ensure its correlation with the real expenses of household consumers. Thus, the maximum amount of compensations will be increased from the current 1000 lei to 1400 lei, while its amount will depend on the heating source. Thus, the maximum amount of compensation for heat and electricity will amount to 1400 lei, for natural gas - 1000 lei, for solid fuel - 800 lei. Taking into account the increases, the sum of compensations for 700 thousand beneficiaries in January-March 2025 will amount to 2.2 billion lei. The payments will start from February. Labor and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu specified that the government will compensate the increase in the electricity consumption tariffs up to 110 kWh per month for all the beneficiaries. This limit was set based on the average consumption of households in the previous cold season, which amounted to 138 kWh. “We encourage citizens to take energy-saving measures by reducing electricity consumption by about 20%, which is an achievable goal, as the experience of the 2022-2023 cold season has shown,” Alexei Buzu said. The government will also compensate for the increase in the central heating tariff for households. “I thank citizens for patience and understanding, solidarity and saving. Together, taking care of each other, we will survive this winter. The government is working to ensure that this year, too, all the necessary support will be provided, so that citizens receiving compensation will not pay more for energy than last year,” said the Minister of Labor and Social Protection. As previously reported, by the National Agency for Energy regulation’s decision, from January 10, the price of electricity for household consumers of Premier Energy was increased 1.8 times - from 2.34 to 4.1 lei per 1 kWh, and for FEE Nord household consumers - by 64.8% - from 2.84 to 4.68 lei per 1 kWh. At the same time, the maximum amount of compensations was increased from 800 to 1,000 lei from December, in the context of the December increase in gas tariffs. // 30.01.2025 – InfoMarket
