Any decision on gas supplies to Transnistria should be transparent and clear, Chisinau is against “murky” schemes - Dorin Recean

Prime Minister said this in an address to citizens, noting that the previously proposed scheme of Russian gas supplies to Transnistria threatens destabilization, so Moldova will agree only to those terms which it considers “transparent and clear”. Dorin Recean said that he and the entire Moldovan government are deeply concerned that more than 300,000 citizens on the left bank of the Dniester are forced to live in unbearable conditions, in cold and darkness. “We understand and share your indignation and pain. And we very much want you to have light and warmth in your apartments. We are ready to do everything we can to achieve this. Right now, there are a number of ways to provide heat to homes in the Transnistrian region. Gazprom can resume direct supplies under the existing contract, or gas can be purchased for the Transnistrian region, there are other legal possibilities. But any decision must be transparent and understandable. We cannot accept murky criminal schemes of gas supply aimed at destabilizing Moldova,” Prime Minister stressed. According to him, the Moldovan government wants gas in the Transnistrian region. “But the Kremlin does not want to resume gas supplies, but wants to create a conflict in Moldova, to pit us against each other, so that people from the right bank get angry at people from the left bank, and vice versa. So that we blame each other for everything. And that we do not see the obvious - that the suffering of people is on the Kremlin's conscience,” Moldovan Prime Minister said. According to him, “the Kremlin did not and does not care about the people living in the whole Moldova and in the Transnistrian region.” “The Kremlin did not think for a second about their fate, cutting off their gas and heating right in the middle of winter and putting the region on the brink of a humanitarian disaster. Russia plans to use human tragedies as an instrument of enmity. The Kremlin's policy is extremely cynical - to create chaos throughout our country. Destabilization is not necessary for people neither on the left, nor on the right bank of the Nistru/Dniester River. Destabilization is needed exclusively by Russia. These plans are not destined to be realized,” Dorin Recean emphasized. He believes that the Kremlin will once again make a mistake in its cynical calculations. “The Moldovan government has done and will do everything possible to preserve peace and harmony in the country - on both sides of the river. We are looking for solutions and we are ready to provide all possible support to those living on the left bank - the people, not the so-called bosses. I am sure that wisdom and harmony between people will prevail over cynicism, geopolitical aggression and disregard for human lives,” Moldovan Prime Minister concluded. // 27.01.2025 - InfoMarket.
