Moldovan State District Power Plant will generate electricity for free for the right bank of the Dniester from February 1 to 10, and electricity tariffs in Moldova will be revised

This was announced by the press secretary of the Moldovan government, Daniel Voda, noting that the assistance in the form of a grant of 30 million euros, provided by the European Union in the context of the energy crisis in Transnistria, is intended for all citizens of our country - on both sides of the Dniester. According to him, Tiraspol officially notified Chisinau of its readiness to discuss the mechanisms for implementing European assistance aimed at overcoming the energy and humanitarian crisis on the left bank of the Dniester. Chisinau, together with its European partners, insists on a transparent process of technical consultations. Today, experts from Tiraspol will hold talks with representatives of Chisinau. As Daniel Voda explained, EU assistance is intended for all citizens of Moldova living on both the right and left banks of the Dniester. It is not exclusive to the Transnistrian region. The Chisinau proposal, discussed with the European Commission, has two clear objectives: reducing electricity tariffs for the right bank and preventing a humanitarian catastrophe on the left bank of the Dniester. The EU support package includes two stages: emergency measures until February 10 and a comprehensive energy sustainability program for 2 years. It is planned that 30 million euros from the EU will be used to purchase gas through Energocom. This gas can be supplied to the left bank through Moldovagaz in order to prevent a humanitarian crisis and maintain electricity production for the right bank of the Dniester. Daniel Voda noted that Chisinau has transferred 3 million cubic meters of gas to the left bank to maintain pressure in the system. This decision was made by the Commission for Emergency Situations. It is expected that electricity tariffs on the right bank of the Dniester will be revised, since from February 1 to 10, the Moldovan State District Power Plant located in the Transnistrian region will generate electricity for the right bank for free. On the left bank, residents will be provided with heat and light from February 1. Emergency gas is intended only for the population, schools, kindergartens and small businesses. Large enterprises, such as MMP or the crypto industry, are not included in this program. The press secretary of the Moldovan government emphasized that after February 10, there will be no more free gas for Tiraspol, and the Russian embassy officially confirmed that Gazprom does not supply gas to the region. Daniel Voda specified that Moldova and the EU are preparing a 2-year energy sustainability program. Investments in infrastructure will be provided to reduce the risks of energy blackmail, specific measures will be taken to reduce electricity and gas tariffs for all citizens of Moldova. "The Government of the Republic of Moldova continues to work to ensure energy security and support for all citizens - without compromise and without concessions to disinformation and Russian propaganda," the press secretary of the Moldovan government said.// 29.01.2025 — InfoMarket.
