
Moldova needs to develop new methods of measuring productivity and added value in the digital economy and to revise the models of economic growth assessment - Anca Dragu
This was stated by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) during an international scientific conference organized by the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM). She said that the knowledge economy for the central bank means new evaluation and analysis models, but also challenges in the adaptation of the monetary policy. Anca Dragu emphasized that the management of intangible assets and the assessment of the impact of technologies and knowledge on productivity and economic growth are important topics for our future. In her presentation, the NBM Governor emphasized the complexity of risk management in knowledge-intensive industries and the difficulties in assessing intangible assets. Also, the head of the National Bank emphasized the need to develop new methods of measuring productivity and added value in the digital economy, as well as the need to revise the models of economic growth assessment, taking into account new trends in this field. During the conference, Anca Dragu posed a number of questions to the young generation of researchers, thus opening a platform for further discussions. Among the topics suggested for reflection and research were: adapting monetary policy to better support the knowledge-based economy; analyzing the impact of monetary policy on the diffusion of technology and knowledge; examining the long-term impact on productivity and economic growth in knowledge-intensive sectors; future challenges for central banks in the context of digitalization and the increasing share of intangible capital; the distributional impact of monetary policy in the knowledge-based economy; the impact of monetary policy in the digital economy and the increasing share of intangible capital; and the impact of monetary policy in the digital economy. “New trends in the digital economy and the increasing role of knowledge pose challenges for traditional monetary policy. We need to be efficient, competitive and find innovative solutions to stimulate economic growth and innovation,” concluded Anca Dragu.
