Unprecedented investments are expected in Moldova, including in the energy sector, which will help boost economic growth - Victor Parlicov
The Energy Minister said this at an event dedicated to the launch of the Romania-Moldova Patronage for Sustainable Development, which took place in Chisinau and gathered important players from both countries to identify concrete ways of economic cooperation and regional development. In this context, Victor Parlicov emphasized that the role of the business environment is to create opportunities that will not only contribute to the economic growth of the entire region, but will also allow the Moldovan people to understand that the country's integration into the European space will benefit everyone. The Energy Minister said that for many years, Moldova has been absent from the list of priority countries seeking to attract investments. “Very recently, the crises we went through and the way we dealt with them have brought us to another level, when we are already in the investors' sight. And I am sure that very soon we will be able to demonstrate that the integration into the European space is an irreversible process for Moldova, which will bring much more investments, prosperity and confidence that our country can offer new opportunities to our citizens, but it is important to realize that all this is done only with the support of business,” Victor Parlicov said. The Energy Minister reiterated that, thanks to the cooperation with Romania and the support of development partners, Moldova's energy sector has undergone unprecedented changes in the last three years, and investors can now be sure that they will have access to energy under non-discriminatory conditions, which do not depend on political will or external interference. Victor Parlicov stressed that the key word that has significantly changed everything in our country's energy security is “synchronization”. “Three weeks after the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, we managed to join the European power system, a technical fact that was hardly noticed by consumers, but for us as a country, this synchronization ensured a minimum level of security, despite the fact that we do not control part of the critical infrastructure, which is located on the left bank of the Dniester. We have only now reached this minimum level of energy security, which we continue to strengthen, including through investments. In recent years, we have invested more than in the past 30 years. In the near future, we will have unprecedented investments, including in the energy sector, thus accelerating the economic development,” the Energy Minister said. Victor Parlicov also noted that there is an information war going on throughout the region, and the best means against propaganda will be the creation of a favorable environment for cooperation, which as a result will create new jobs and attractive opportunities for young people. The launch of the Romania-Moldova Patronage for Sustainable Development was announced during the conference “Romania-Moldova Cross-Border Economic Cooperation: ‘Consolidating Partnership for Sustainable Development’, which gathered in Chisinau representatives of Romanian state institutions, members of chambers of commerce, economic experts from Moldova and Romania, as well as well-known entrepreneurs. Focusing investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy for a sustainable future was also on the agenda of the discussion. The participants had the opportunity to present initiatives and projects in this field, which can contribute to economic development and environmental protection. // 18.09.2024 - InfoMarket.
