Moldova Business Week-2024, a week of entrepreneurship and investment, has started in Moldova and will last until September 20
During the opening of Moldova Business Week (MBW), Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the government wants to change the perception of entrepreneurs and make foreign businessmen perceive Moldova as a destination for their investments. “This event is an opportunity to talk to people, to talk to potential partners and to explore new opportunities,” Prime Minister said. Dorin Recean emphasized some important aspects that should motivate business people to invest in Moldova: access to a wide market, development of the capital market, training of highly qualified human resources, as well as creation of clear business rules for entrepreneurs. Prime Minsiter also referred to the development of the business infrastructure, energy and road infrastructure, support measures for small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as support for the scientific-innovative sector. At the opening of the MBW, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister, Dumitru Alaiba, urged entrepreneurs to invest in Moldova now, in order not to regret it in 5 years. “Without a doubt, our country will become the next EU Member State with a strong, diversified, efficient, innovative, open and free economy, part of the Single European Market. And in order to grow faster, Moldova needs investments. This is why our reform program is aimed at developing and consolidating a stable and attractive business environment,” Alaiba said. He noted that the Moldovan authorities have approved a large-scale program of deregulation and reduction of the bureaucratic burden on the business environment, and today the effect is estimated at about 0.5 per cent of the GDP per year. Also, the economy is being digitalized - it will save entrepreneurs at least 1 billion lei in 2024. He stressed that businesses are also opting for digitalization - 80% of the total number of requests for different services in Q1 2024 were submitted online. Dumitru Alaiba also mentioned the income tax reform, thanks to which companies have saved 1.4 billion lei on their accounts, and spoke about plans and priorities, including the industrialization of Moldova.
