Moldova will be able to participate along with European countries in joint public procurement procedures in the field of medical countermeasures
This is stipulated by the relevant agreement on joint public procurement in the field of medical countermeasures, which was ratified by the Parliament. The document itself was signed in Chisinau on July 9, 2024. The agreement on joint procurement is an innovative tool for organizing the procurement of vaccines and medicines in preparation for pandemics. It aims to ensure fair and cost-effective access to joint procurement of medical countermeasures. Accordingly, once the agreement is ratified, our country will have fair access to products vital to the national health system, especially at a time when such products are in short supply. At the same time, joint procurement opens up the possibility of obtaining additional quantities of medicines or medical devices, including from the quantities reserved by other states that are members of the framework agreement. According to the Ministry of Health, joint procurement will make it possible to set reasonable prices for the purchase of means of medical countermeasures against serious health threats, as well as minimize the risk of countering some unfair economic operators or the purchase of low-quality or ineffective means. The agreement on joint public procurement of medical countermeasures for EU institutions was adopted by the European Commission in 2014. To date, it has been signed by all 28 EU Member States, as well as Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo and North Macedonia. On July 9, 2024 Moldova became the 38th country to sign the Agreement on joint public procurement in the field of medical countermeasures and the 6th EU candidate country to sign the document. // 20.09.2024 – InfoMarket
