Directives on VAT, harmonization of excise duties and transfer prices, as well as the transposition of the EU Customs Code are priorities in the field of taxation in Moldova - Amcham Moldova

Mila Malairau, Executive Director of the organization, said this at the opening of the TAXCON'24 conference - the most important international conference dedicated to taxation in Moldova. She expressed gratitude to all 180 members of the American Chamber of Commerce and about 300 companies that participate in the work of the tax committee, as well as to partners, sponsors and authorities for the support in organizing the 5th international tax conference. Mila Malairau said that besides the three main priorities in taxation, there are other important areas that require special attention, among them the green transition, capital market regulation and other areas that require tax support measures without which the transposition of European legislation will not happen. Support for employers, including through tax measures, is also a priority. The concept of incentive capital, stock option plan, as well as issues such as digitalization and prevention of tax evasion, investment incentives, local levies, etc. should remain in focus. Finance Minister Victoria Belous, while speaking at the opening of TAXCON'24, emphasized the importance of transparency and clarity in tax legislation. “As Minister of Finance, I strongly support the changes needed to create a dynamic business environment in Moldova. It is crucial that we have clear and transparent legislation, and our approach to taxpayers must be fair and equitable. This is and should remain our priority,” Victoria Belous said. She also emphasized the aspiration of the Ministry of Finance to bring the tax legislation in line with European standards, stressing that European directives should be implemented in an accessible and comfortable way for taxpayers. She thanked the representatives of the business environment for constant cooperation and dialog, saying that only joint efforts can achieve the reforms necessary to create a favorable environment for the development of entrepreneurship. The largest international conference on taxation in Moldova, TAXCON'24, was organized by Amcham Moldova and attended by more than 150 specialists. The conference is part of Moldova Business Week and was supported by the Embassy of Sweden in Moldova, PwC Moldova and Gebauer & Griller Moldova. // 19.09.2024 - InfoMarket.
