In Moldova, a population and housing census began on April 8.
From Monday, April 8, to July 7 this year, approximately 4,000 census takers will go door-to-door across the country to collect data on the population and its characteristics, such as age, gender, ethnicity, education level, occupation, etc., as well as to collect data on their living conditions, such as sewerage and water supply, heating system, etc. For the first time in the history of the population census in Moldova, reviewers will be equipped with tablets, and modern information technologies will be used to collect data. This will reduce the processing and distribution time of data, ensure high protection of personal data and its efficient and secure transfer. The Population and Housing Census is financed from the state budget of Moldova (244.3 million lei), as well as with the support of development partners, in particular the European Union and UNPFA, which provide technical and financial support to the NBS within the framework of the project “Support to the National Bureau of Statistics in conducting census of population and houses from 2024" during the preparation and implementation of the census. The total cost of the project is 2 million 75 thousand euros, of which 2 million euros are provided by the EU, and 75 thousand euros by the UNFPA.// 08.04.2024 — InfoMarket
