
NBM President Octavian Armasu called on the business community to intensify efforts to overcome the existing crises
In particular, the President of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armasu, together with his adviser Natan Garștea, took part in a seminar with members of the Association of Romanian Investors (AIR). The discussions focused on various topics of interest to Romanian investors, including settlements in Romanian lei in the context that Romania is the main trading partner of Moldova, as well as on a number of other topics, including anti-inflationary measures implemented by the NBM, international payments, liberalization of the account of transactions with capital, lending conditions, revision of the consumer protection system for financial products, as well as the future accession of Moldova to the SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) zone and others. The head of the Central Bank noted that this year was difficult, and monetary policy was tightened to mitigate inflationary shocks. The President of the NBM called for intensifying efforts to overcome the existing crises, calling on representatives of commercial banks to promote the achievements of the domestic banking system at the international level. “With the support of external partners, the NBM is working on the development of the interbank market and the capital market, on improving the system of consumer protection in the financial and banking market,” said Octavian Armasu.
