
The European Union will continue to provide all necessary support to Moldova, especially in terms of energy security.
This is stated in a statement following the EU summit and the meeting of the European Council, which took place in Brussels. According to the press service of the Romanian head of state, as a result of the actions of Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, European leaders sent a strong signal of support for Moldova, which is facing the difficult consequences of the war in Ukraine. In the energy sector, the European Council welcomed the progress in implementing the October 2022 conclusions, asking the relevant ministers to urgently finalize the legislative package to strengthen solidarity through better coordination of gas purchases, accelerate the introduction of renewable energy sources and establish a corrective market mechanism to protect citizens and the economy from inflated prices. European leaders stressed the importance of continuing to work on the commissioning of the EU Energy Platform, preparations for the 2023/2024 season and reaffirmed the importance of increasing investment.
