Moldova became part of the regional system of guarantees for the origin of energy from renewable resources
This was announced by the Energy Community Secretariat, noting that nine electronic registries of guarantees of origin are ready to stimulate the use of renewable energy sources in the Energy Community. It is emphasized that within the framework of a regional project launched by the Energy Community Secretariat in January 2022, electronic registries of guarantees of origin were created for Albania, two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro and Ukraine. All nine registries are ready for operation after the signing of direct agreements between the issuing authorities of the contracting parties and the service provider Grexel. Once the agreements are signed, two or more contracting parties will be able to trade guarantees of origin through the regional system established by the service provider. The Energy Community Secretariat during the workshop urged the issuing authorities of the contracting parties to use the current momentum to sign subsequent agreements as soon as possible and take advantage of the system developed under the project. The Service Provider will hold national registries and all configurations on hold until the end of June 2023 to allow sufficient time to conclude agreements. The meeting of the Renewable Energy Coordinating Group highlighted the potential that a well-functioning regional guarantee of origin system could have to stimulate the use of renewable energy sources and accelerate the energy transition in the Energy Community. Discussions also focused on the best ways to move the new Renewable Energy Directive (REDII) before the end of the 2022 deadline. The group learned from the European Commission about the “REPowerEU” plan to rapidly reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels and speeding up procedures for issuing permits for projects in the field of renewable energy sources. // 31.05.2022 — InfoMarket
