Moldovan authorities will take measures to maintain stability in the country, peace and security of its citizens in the context of the regional crisis.

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu stated this in her message to citizens, emphasizing once again that Moldova supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Maia Sandu noted that now the task of the authorities is to maintain stability in the country and the tranquility of its citizens. “We are closely monitoring the situation, and state institutions are mobilized to intervene and ensure the life and security of the people of Moldova,” the head of state said. She stressed that she will hold a meeting of the working group on regional security issues on Tuesday and the action plans will be updated in accordance with the new circumstances. The authorities are also preparing the necessary measures to protect the information space of Moldova from elements of disinformation and propaganda. “Our citizens must be correctly and objectively informed about the events in the region,” President of the Republic of Moldova said. She reiterated the MFAEI's call to Moldovan citizens in Ukraine to avoid travel to the eastern regions of Ukraine and to regularly check travel notices issued by the ministry. “We are also ready to support the citizens of Ukraine if they need help. The competent authorities are closely monitoring the situation in the eastern regions and in the security zone. At the same time, the regional crisis should not affect the work of institutions and our reform agenda. We ensure the continuity of current processes, and public services operate as usual,” Maia Sandu said. President stressed that Moldova is a peace-loving country that shares European values and solves its problems through dialogue. “Yesterday's events and those that will follow them may affect the situation in our country. We do not rest on our laurels - on the creation of a state for citizens. In the future, we will make every effort to strengthen people's trust in their country. We will work to improve the well-being of people, ensure their stability, create a favorable business environment, create jobs, build a home, and create a family and prosperous life with loved ones with faith in tomorrow. We will strengthen democracy, a culture of debate, transparent governance, and respect for human dignity - elements that raise resistance in our country. We reaffirm our commitment to offer the people of Moldova a European future. These are our values that we believe in, and our faith and determination serve as our shield,” concluded Maia Sandu. // 22.02.2022 – InfoMarket
