Economic growth in Moldova might reach 8% this year - Sergiu Gaibu.

Minister of Economy stated this during the public conference EBA Business Outlook 2022, organized by the European Business Association – EBA in Moldova. The event was dedicated to general economic prospects, financial market, energy and renewable energy sources, e-commerce and digitalization. The discussions were attended by private sector companies, representatives of central authorities, European experts and officials. “This is a time of significant challenges and changes in the country. New approaches and a comprehensive analysis of the situation are needed to find optimal solutions. Moldova will end this year with an economic growth of 8%, and the statistics show that we register really good growth in terms of exports. Despite the energy crisis, there are a number of opportunities as demand for products grows. As before, about 25% of products are exported to Romania and about 61% in general to the EU, with the prospect of growth,” said Sergiu Gaibu. The Minister of Economy also discussed the need to create a Development Fund to support the policies of the National Bank, so that when the situation on the money market is less favorable, the government would have an intervention tool to finance the economy. At the same time, it is planned that the Fund will provide cheap long-term resources to support small and medium-sized businesses. The European Business Association in Moldova is an independent non-governmental organization founded by 10 founders, some of the largest investors in Moldova. The EBA is an institution created under the auspices of the EU Delegation to Moldova with the aim of bringing the national economy and business legislation in line with EU standards and promoting European values and best business management practices in the Moldovan business community. // 18.02.2022- InfoMarket.
