Moldovan Government will allocate 292.4 million lei from the Reserve Fund to make advance payments in order to compensate for the difference in prices for gas and heat after the increase in tariffs for them.

According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, this decision was approved by the National Commission for Emergency Situations at a meeting held by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita. It was agreed that the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection will make an advance payment to Termoelectrica and CET-Nord to compensate for the difference in price due to the increase in regulated prices for the supply of natural gas and residential heat consumption. At the same time, according to the presented forecasts, in February-March Termoelectrica will receive 266 million 960 thousand lei in compensation to household consumers, and CET-Nord - 25 million 385.78 thousand lei. According to the decision of the commission, Termoelectrica and CET-Nord will report monthly on the amount of actual compensation provided to household consumers, and if the amount of the advance payment exceeds the amount of compensation provided for February-March 2022, the enterprises will return the balance to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. If the amount of the advance is less than the amount of compensation, the difference will be paid by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. The Commission also decided that consumers served by suppliers who are not subject to public service obligations and operators of closed distribution systems should also benefit from compensation provided by the government. In addition, the list of beneficiaries will include household consumers from houses and apartment buildings run by budgetary institutions, in accordance with the same legal regulations that apply to residential consumers from associations of residents. // 21.02.2022 - InfoMarket
