The European Commission approved the Economic Recovery Plan for Moldova: within 3 years, our country will receive 600 million euros.
According to the press service of the European Commission, the funds will be allocated in the form of macro-financial assistance, grants and investments, supported, among other things, by financial guarantees. New funding will be mobilized in 2021-2024 to encourage investment that is at the heart of the country's sustainable and comprehensive recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. The economic recovery plan focuses on 5 main areas: public finance management and economic management; competitive economy, trade and SMEs; infrastructure; education and employment opportunities; reform of the rule of law and justice. The plan is expected to be implemented in close cooperation with EU countries and international financial institutions within Team Europe, as well as with private investors. However, investments will follow "a more for more" approach, taking into account Moldova's progress in structural reforms, in particular in the areas of justice and anti-corruption, as a precondition for financial assistance. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU Economic Recovery Plan represents an unprecedented attempt to help Moldova rebuild and advance an ambitious reform agenda for the benefit of its citizens. It is worth noting that since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Union has shown its solidarity with partners around the world. Moldova received more than € 127 million in bilateral grant aid in 2020 alone to cope with the initial shock of the crisis. // 02.06.2021 — InfoMarket
