Moldova’s taxpayers providing taxi services in violation of the law were fined more than 15,000 lei - the State Tax Service

According to the State Tax Inspectorate, from November 17 to 21, tax inspectors, together with employees of the National Motor Transport Agency and the National Public Security Inspectorate, conducted a series of inspections in Chisinau, Ialoveni, Hîncești, and Chișinău targeting taxpayers providing passenger taxi services both occasionally and using electronic platforms. During the inspections, a number of violations were identified, including: passenger taxi transportation activities without the appropriate registration in the organizational and legal form; failure to issue tax receipts for taxi transportation services rendered; and failure to declare income received, which is a violation of current tax legislation. As a result of 24 spot checks, two cases of non-use of available cash register equipment and one case of failure to issue travel documents were identified, for which penalties totaling 4,400 lei were charged. In addition, seven individuals engaged in illegal activities in the field of passenger transportation by taxi were fined 11,000 lei. The State Tax Service urges taxpayers to comply with tax legislation and conduct transparent economic activities, thereby contributing to the development of a fair and sustainable economic environment. Citizens are also advised to request tax receipts for taxi rides and to report cases of illegal economic activity to the State Tax Service's toll-free hotline: 0 8000 1525. With these measures, the State Tax Service reaffirms its commitment to supporting voluntary compliance with tax legislation and ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework in all areas of the economy. //25.11.2025 – InfoMarket.
