SFS specialists study international experience in the field of taxation of virtual assets

According to the press service of the agency, a delegation from the State Tax Service (SFS) is participating in a seminar organized by the Office of the Coordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities. The purpose of the event is to provide a fundamental understanding of virtual asset taxation, international standards, and approaches to regulation. During the training, State Tax Service employees will learn about the concept of virtual assets, the basics of Blockchain financial technology terminology, the most common types of virtual asset taxation and their differences, and the current status of virtual asset taxation limits within the European Union. Participants will also receive practical examples related to tracking virtual asset transactions, collecting information from virtual asset service providers, and the most common cases of tax evasion. As noted by Olga Golban, head of the State Tax Service, tax specialists are interested in the experience of other countries, both from a legal point of view and in terms of the risks associated with virtual assets. According to her, the State Tax Service looks at where businesses and citizens have opportunities to earn income, but through the prism of taxation and the payment of appropriate taxes. According to Moldova's reform agenda, the country plans to adopt a legal framework for the regulation of virtual and cryptocurrencies by 2027. In particular, legal norms will be introduced that comply with European legislation on the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the EU (MiCA/Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation). // 27.05.2025 — InfoMarket.
