A bilateral screening meeting on Chapter 16 Taxation is taking place on May 15–16 in Brussels as part of Moldova's accession process to the European Union
The State Tax Service announced this, noting that the event is organized by the European Commission and attended by representatives of the State Tax Service along with the Bureau for European Integration, the Ministry of Finance, and the Customs Service. As noted by the State Tax Service, the harmonization of Moldova's tax system with that of the European Union involves the alignment of national tax legislation with European standards and directives. This process brings a number of economic, legal, and institutional benefits, the most important of which are: increased investment attractiveness, promotion of trade and economic integration, improved tax administration efficiency, increased tax fairness and protection of the competitive environment, macroeconomic and budgetary stability. “We intend to continue the necessary tax reforms to ensure a fair and transparent system that meets European standards,” the State Tax Service emphasized. // 15.05.2025 – InfoMarket
