In 2021, the Customs Service registered a record amount of contributions to the country's budget - 28.5 billion lei.

Compared to 2020, the volume of receipts from the CS increased by 26.8% (22.5 billion lei), and compared to 2019 - by 24.9% (22.9 billion lei). For comparison, 10 years ago, customs payments were 2.3 times less (12.6 billion lei), 20 years ago - 11.4 times less (2.5 billion lei). In December 2021, budgetary allocations administered by the CS increased by 27.2% compared to December last year and amounted to 3.06 billion lei. The largest income, as usual, is generated by excisable goods, such as petroleum products (43% of the total amount of excise taxes), tobacco products (30.7%), vehicles (19%). The department notes that the increase in income is due to improved customs control, reliable declaration of goods by bona fide economic agents, as well as progress made in combating fraud. Another factor influencing the increase in income is the measures taken to simplify customs procedures and facilitate international trade (electronic declaration, customs clearance at the place of residence, assignment of the status of an authorized economic operator (AEO) or an approved exporter). //03.01.2022 – InfoMarket
